So what do I do next?

Well, I want to learn to sew Vintage....
or more precisely, I want to learn how to grade patterns and sew vintage...

I love the vintage look of the 30's and 40's, and would love to wear more; let's face it I need to stop getting into my jeans and T-shirt combo's I dig out day after day.
However, my mother's exceptional sewing talent hasn't seemed to have rubbed off on me - so far the use of my trusty old Bernina has been limited to soft furnishings, almost without exception.

My other guilty secret is although I love the IDEA of sewing fabulous dresses from the Past, I am really more excited about the Patterns. And I do mean the actual patterns! At school I was turning into a talented Technical Draftsman, (woman? Draftsperson?) but in my chosen career I never even looked at a set-square in 20 years. Now I'm getting itchy fingered just thinking about getting my hands on a beautifully shaped pattern piece and sculpting the titchy thing up to something that's actually wearable. Is that a little bit geeky?!

Another day or so and the I'll have finished painting the hallway; I've had to promise myself I won't touch a pencil until that's done... my motivation :)
